Danny Dyer looked almost unrecognisable on the set of his latest project, which has seen him working with David Tennant.

The actor, 45, has been filming for upcoming Disney+ series Rivals, based on the Jilly Cooper novel of the same name, which is part of the book series the Rutshire Chronicles.

He is said to have been cast as a character named Freddie Jones in the eight-part project. His co-stars include David, 51, who's said to play TV chief Tony Baddingham.

The pair were spotted on set this week, with Danny seen sporting a moustache and lengthier hair than usual for the role. He was seen dressed smartly, wearing a navy suit and white shirt.

David also appeared to be in a suit which was accompanied by a bow tie. The actor was wrapped up in a coat whilst photographed on the set of the upcoming series.

Filming is said to have taken place at a 16th century country house in Gloucestershire.

The project was announced by Disney+ last year. The broadcaster said the book series by Jilly is "an iconic and beloved piece of British literary history, capturing the joy, drama, excess, and brazen power-grabbing of the affluent elite in 1980s England."

A synopsis issued at the time read: "Rivals dives headfirst into the cutthroat world of independent television in 1986, where the shoulder pads are big and ambitions even bigger."

It teased that the plot of the show will centre on a long-standing rivalry between two powerful men in the form of Tony - who's played by David - and Rupert Campbell-Black.

The broadcaster said: "Rivals is a joyously mischievous rollercoaster ride, steamy in its love stories and packed with larger-than-life characters. Yet beneath the spectacle and fun, the series brings a 2020s lens to the 1980s".

Jilly commented last year that she was "so excited" over the project and teased that it would bring to life the "boardroom battles and love triangles of [her literary] characters".
