A teacher who met Prince William and Kate Middleton has been banned after sending a student "aggressively sexual" text messages.

Divorced mum-of-three Lindsey Bauer abused her position in her private communications with a teenage boy at Colyton Grammar School in Exeter.

The 46-year-old - who is also an art model - taught history and geography.

But last year she was banned from teaching for at least five years by the Teaching Regulation Agency panel, it has emerged.

She previously shared photos of her with the Prince and Princess of Wales during an appearance on BBC Radio 4 show, Woman’s Hour.

She spoke about building trust with students during her appearance.

Bauer met the royal couple in 2016 during an official visit to Tresco, a tiny island in the Isles of Scilly.

She admitted to failing to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with a student, according to a judgement report.

Colyton Grammar School is not named in the report, but the school has confirmed to the Mirror a former employee has received a prohibition order.

The allegations include "suggesting they arrange face-to-face meetings, making inappropriate advances, and communicating with the student outside school without good reason on matters that did not relate to the curriculum”.

Bauer also admitted abusing her position of trust “by encouraging the student in activity which was viewed to be sexual in nature”.

She denied that her actions were sexually motivated, but the panel found all allegations proven and recommended an "indefinite ban".

Ms Mona Sood, who chaired the hearing behind closed doors, wrote: “The Panel then went on to make findings that Ms Bauer was guilty of unacceptable professional conduct and conduct that may bring the profession into disrepute.

“Ms Bauer failed to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with a pupil at a secondary school and abused her position of trust, which included engaging in inappropriate communications with the pupil which the Panel concluded was sexually motivated.”

The conduct took place between 2018 and 2022 and following a tip-off the school launched an investigation, before referring to watchdog TRA.

Police were also informed.

The teaching ban was imposed on Bauer in May 2022 after a hearing in April.

It is understood Bauer successfully had a court order put in place preventing certain information being published, which was eventually overturned.

10 months after the hearing concluded the report was released on March 1, this year.

Oxford-educated Bauer is now a tutor at Bristol University.

A spokesperson for Colyton Grammar School told the Mirror: "Following a timely investigation instigated by us in line with our commitment to the wellbeing and safeguarding of our students, we can confirm that a former employee has received a prohibition order from the TRA."
