There's nothing quite like a fakeaway on a Friday evening. Thanks to nifty gadgets like the air fryer, people are giving things like homemade Nando's a go, and even McDonald's burgers. It works out much more cost-effective, and some even claim their versions are tastier.

A former chef has waded in to share his air fryer crispy pork belly recipe. It should get your tastebuds tingling in time for the weekend - and it's perfect for people who are "impatient" like he is.

The pro cook @patty.plates shared his quick and easy method of making the belly pork - and we're salivating.

At the start of the video, the belly pork can be seen looking crispy and delicious - with mouth-watering crackling that many of us would assume can only be achieved in the oven.

The former chef explains that at first, he thought that air fryers were just a "gimmicky kitchen gadget".

But his mind changed when he realised you can be really creative with them, as make a myriad of delicacies.

He said: "If you've ever made this dish the traditional way, you'll know it's a labour of love", explaining that if you're "impatient" like him, it can be an effective way to make the dish quicker.

To try the recipe yourself, he says all you need to do is e then says you need to poke holes in the skin of the pork belly, then square the meat and brush it with a hoi sin and xiao xing wine mix.

You then need to bring salt, sugar, white pepper, garlic powder, and five spice together and massage the meat with it. Then wrap the bottom in foil, brush the skin with vinegar, and cover in salt to "dry out the skin."

Then simply air fry at 200 degrees for 30 minutes, scrape off the salt and brush the skin with oil. Then air fry again at 400 degrees for 30 minutes until the skin is "GBD", which stands for "golden, brown, delicious."

In the comments, people were really impressed with how delicious the offering looked.

One wrote: "Air fryer haters are the ones who don't have one."

"I wanna try this bro this looks good", someone complimented.

"The crunch is so satisfying", another raved.

"Wow that seems so simple", a TikToker gushed.
