Kelly Clarkson has opened up on how her children are dealing with her divorce from their dad, Brandon Blackstock.
The former American Idol winner, 40, revealed youngsters River, 8, and Remington, 6, have been "really honest" with her as she continues to ask about their feelings on a daily basis.
She admitted that every night during snuggle time, she asks if her children are happy, and if not, what can she do to make them feel happier.
The talk show host confessed: "Sometimes they'll say, especially the past two years, and it kills me and I want them to be honest, so I don't ever say, 'Oh god, don't tell me that,' but a lot of times it would be like, 'You know, I'm just really sad. I wish mommy and daddy were in the same house.'"

She admitted that hearing them talk so candidly can be hard at times, but insisted she knows how they feel as she too grew up with parents who divorced.
She continued: "I just sit there and I'm like, 'I get it. I'm from a divorced family as well. I get it. That sucks. But we're going to work it out. And you are so loved by both of us.'
"I think communicating with them and not treating them—not treating them like an adult, because they're not—but not treating them like a child. They're not small feelings. Those are huge feelings, and those are huge emotions."

The pair finalised their divorce in March 2022. She ditched her married surname shortly after the split was officially recognised.
Court documents obtained by US Weekly at the time read: "There being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted. The Decree is signed and filed. The Petitioner’s name is changed from KELLY BRIANNE CLARKSON to KELLY BRIANNE."
In February of last year, Kelly filed to change her legal name, reportedly saying at the time that she wanted to go by her first and middle name because it "more fully reflects who [she is]".
