Woman shares game-changing painting hack that doesn't require any 'masking tape'

It always seems like a good idea to give your home a fresh lick of paint - whether you're moving into a new abode or you're seeking some fresh touch-ups. Unfortunately, however, the process can be rather gruelling and require a handful of tools to be completed neatly.

However, a woman has taken to popular video-streaming service TikTok to share a new game-changing method that doesn't require using any 'masking tape' to avoid mess.

Mel Lloyd - who boasts more than 27,000 followers on TikTok account @my_neutral_place - demonstrated the method first-hand.

In the clip, which has surpassed a whopping 1.3 million views since posting, TikTok viewers are praising the hack for being 'so much easier' than other techniques.

Captioning the post, she wrote: "I've been painting today so thought I'd share my favourite time-saving tips! No masking tape required!"

Mel's genius plan uses a plain white piece of paper, which can be used all throughout the house - from door edges to skirting boards.

Trying out the method herself while painting her skirting boards, she slid the paper underneath the wood so that paint would catch onto the paper rather than on her wooden floorboards.

Then, she placed the paper alongside a wall's edge to show that no excess paint would go on the parallel wall - a method that's usually saved by masking tape aligning the wall's edge.

Finally, she used a piece of paper in a demonstration against a door's edge. Instead of using tape, she placed the white sheet against the door frame to paint her door a different colour with ease.

Since posting, Mel's video has raked in over 170 comments to date - where people praised the hack.

Taking to the comment section, one person gushed: "Love this hack so much easier.

"Wow," a second penned alongside an applauding emoji.

"Life hack of the year," another exclaimed.

A different user suggested an alternative method: "I've used cereal boxes."
