Nick Cannon slammed for 'disgusting' show - but it turns out it was a prank

Nick Cannon felt he full backlash of his followers for 'announcing' he was to star in an insensitive game show just a day after teasing baby news.

The TV presenter, 42, hinted he was ready to become a dad for the 13th time, but fans weren't prepared for the way he has suggested doing so.

Nick teased he had teamed up with comedian Kevin Hart for a bizarre brand new reality which will see a group of females compete against each other to become the mother of his next child. He currently fathers 12 children to six different women.

Sharing a teaser clip to his Instagram of the potential new production, Nick told his fans the show would air in the spring on E! and be called Who's Having My Baby?

However, it's since been revealed it was all just a joke and instead he is actually set to star in a show titled Celebrity Prank Wars.

Following the initial teaser, one user questioned: "WTH! IS THIS AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE IN MARCH?," while another confidently responded: "This is a joke this is not a real show."

Others weren't so polite, however, with one fan fuming: "Who in the world came up with this concept? Seriously. This is going to get cancelled real quick if this a joke."

"I really hope this is a joke. Babies are people, not a prize (or punishment) winning a game show," said another before adding: "If a child is born from this, I hope they grow up to sue the people responsible for this show."

Yet another agreed, commenting: "It's disgusting at this point," while one user labelled the potential show "toxic".

The clip followed Nick's teaser message on Monday. Taking to his Instagram Story, he simply wrote: "Expect some big news tomorrow..." followed by the eyes emoji and a baby's milk bottle symbol.

He popped up the same message on his Twitter page, leaving fans rushing to the comments section to speculate on what he meant.

The majority took it to mean he was ready to become a dad for the 13th time, but it appears none predicted a TV gameshow would be the way he found his next baby mama.

The real show is being billed as an "all-out war" as one celebrity pranks another, and the payback begins. Each episode will feature celebrities planning and perpetrating pranks on each other and will be hosted by Nick and Kevin.

Celebrity Prank Wars will premiere on on E! on April 6.
