Jack Nicklaus has revealed that Tiger Woods will opt to use a cart whilst competing when the American makes the move to the PGA Tour's senior circuit, the Champions Tour.

Woods' professional career has been hampered in recent years after suffering life-changing injuries in a car accident in February 2021. Since then, the 82-time PGA Tour winner has played in just four competitive events, and with some discomfort.

The 15-time major champion has already admitted the rest of his career on the PGA Tour will be a part-time one, with his focus on the four major events on the golfing calendar.

Many have called on Woods to take advantage of a cart exemption to prolong his career, but for now the American has opted not to. Fellow great Nicklaus however has shed some light on when we could expect to see Woods receive on-course assistance.

The 18-time major champion revealed that whilst the 2019 Masters winner will not use a cart on the PGA Tour, he will decide to use one when he makes the move to the seniors. Speaking on Sir Nick Faldo’s new podcast 'Sir Nick’s Round Table Chats' Nicklaus said: "He [Woods] is going to play the Majors.

"He can actually still hit the ball pretty well, he just can’t walk. I told him, I said ‘Tiger you’re eligible to take a cart’, but he said ‘I’m not going to do that, when I get to the senior tour I will.’ “He’d love to play the senior tour.

"That’s what I love about Tiger, he’s a competitor, he loves competition.” Woods made his long-awaited return to competition last month, when he competed at the Genesis Invitational, a tournament in which he is the host.

Following his comeback, the 82-time Tour winner discussed what his plans were for the rest of the year, reiterating Nicklaus' comments regarding his commitment to the majors. When asked when he would next be teeing it up, Woods told CBS: "Competitively, I don't know.

"Each and every year from here going forward is playing all the majors. I am not going to play too much more than that, my body, leg and my back won't allow me to play much more than that anymore. That was my goal last year, and I was able to play three of the four. This year hopefully I could play all four and this will be my schedule going forward because of the limitations I have."
