The Pokemon Company has finally announced a confirmed release date for its Pokemon Go Plus+ device which is available this summer after its initial 2019 announcement.

This week's Pokemon Presents livestream finally showed off the game we were all waiting for: Pokemon Sleep! And part of the reveal focused on the Pokemon Go Plus+ device which was first announced four years ago. This new accessory does everything the original Pokemon Go Plus device does, but it's main purpose is the new sleep tracking capabilities to work alongside Pokemon Sleep.

When Pokemon Sleep was first announced, an accessory called Pokemon Go Plus+ was also teased. You'd be forgiven for assuming this was a placeholder name but nope, the device will be called Pokemon Go Plus + and is launching on July 21, 2023. So what does Pokemon Go Plus + do? It acts as an alternative to leaving your phone on the bed to track your sleep. You click the button when you go to sleep, and you click it again once you wake up and your snooze is tracked.

Best of all is there is a Pikachu within the Pokemon Go Plus+ ball (free him!). The ball will play sound effects for you when you press the button, like a Pikachu rendition of the Pokemon Centre heal tune when you wake up. Pikachu will even sing you a lullaby as you drift off to sleep. You can unlock extra alarm sounds, presumably through use with Pokemon Sleep.

As the name implies Pokemon Go Plus+ also has functionality with Pokemon Go. From the looks of things it works like the original Pokemon Go Plus device does, which lets you collect items from Pokestops, and attempt to catch pokemon without even touching your phone. The Pokemon Go Plus+ has the new ability to use Great and Ultra balls – something you couldn't do with the Pokemon Go Plus.

Connecting a Pokemon Plus+ to Pokemon Go will unlock a special night-cap-clad Snorlax in the game. The device is going to cost $54.99 in the USA, but no pricing info has been announced elsewhere as of now. That translates to around £46 / AU$82 but it's unlikely that the price will be a straight currency conversion. We'll likely know within the coming months before the device's July 21, 2023 launch.

Gotta snooze 'em all

Pokemon Sleep is, as you can imagine, a sleep tracking app. You help Professor Neroli study the sleeping habits of Pokemon by letting him analyse your sleep. Your sleep is measured, recorded and analysed to put you into one of three sleep types; dozing, snoozing, and slumbering. Pokemon who sleep in the same way you do will populate your Pokemon sleep app and go for a little snooze around Snorlax.

There are even "rare in-game sleep styles" you can unlock. I know what you're thinking, but nothing I've written so far is a joke or made up, it's all very bizarre. The game (if you can call it that?) will launch during Summer 2023.
