Former Premier League player Greg Halford was trolled by a website for extra-marital affairs after a public split with his ex-partner.

The 38-year-old shared footage of himself throwing his ex's belongings out of a window, allegedly after she cheated on him. "Been far, far too long but finally clearing out the cheating c*** ex stuff," the caption read.

Halford made his Premier League debut with Reading in the 2006-07 season and also played in the competition for Wolves and Sunderland. The 38-year-old is now playing non-league football for Hashtag United, and was mocked in his first appearance since the Twitter video in question.

An ad for the 'Illicit Encounters' website took pride of place on the halfway line at Hashtag United faced Wroxham in the Isthmian League. "Discreet cheating. Where getting caught goes out of the window," the tagline read.

Illicit Encounters describes itself as "The UK's Largest and leading Extra-Marital Dating Site." It describes itself as "discreet, safe and fun".

Halford was photographed in view of the hoarding during an eventful game. The veteran was shown a second yellow card for simulation as his team finished the game with nine men, but they held on for a 3-2 victory.

Hashtag United's victory kept them second in the Isthmian League North, behind leaders AFC Sudbury. They also reached the first qualifying round of this season's FA Cup, losing to Romford.

Ben Brookes was sent off for them inside 10 minutes for two bookings, with Halford coming off the bench to bolster the back line after the early red card. However, the 10 men came from behind to open up a half-time lead thanks to goals from Max Cornhill and Percy Kiangebeni.

Halford got his marching orders just before the hour mark, but the nine men added a third through Kiangebeni after Toby Aro was felled in the penalty area. Ryan Miles pulled one back for Wroxham but it was too little, too late.

While Halford is predominantly used as a centre-back these days, he has played in a variety of positions during his career. He failed to score for any of his Premier League sides, but was transferred for a seven-figure sum on more than one occasion.

His most successful spell in front of goal came in his two years in the Championship with Portsmouth. He joined the newly-relegated side on loan in 2010 before completing a £1m switch 12 months later, and scored 12 times in two seasons at Fratton Park.
