A man in his 20s has been stabbed during a fight at luxury department store Harrods believed to be over a watch.

Horrified Harrods customers described stepping into a "pool of blood" after a 29-year man was stabbed inside London's world famous department store.

The incident occurred over the weekend, on Saturday January, 28, outside the luxury store in West London.

Police were called to the high-end department store in Knightsbridge at around 7.30pm (January 28) to reports of a fight, reports My London.

Met Police officers along with paramedics found a young man with "stab/slash injuries" and rushed him to hospital.

Cops say that the victim was taken to hospital by ambulance, where his condition was assessed and it was found that his injuries are "not life-threatening or life-changing".

Following the horror incident, Kensington and Chelsea police put a cordon around the store - and inside the Louis Vuitton shop - to mark the crime scene.

Officers are yet to make an arrest with knifeman still at large, but enquiries have begun into what happened.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson has said that: "Detectives from the Met’s Central West CID are investigating. There have been no arrests at this early stage."

Photos of the scene show emergency response vehicles outside the busy store.

One witness also shared a photo of the crime scene inside the Louis Vuitton section of Harrods and suggested the attack was "over a watch".

Another witness, a dad, was in the next room inside the store's Louis Vuitton concession with his teenage daughter when the attack happened.

He has called on on London Mayor Sadiq Khan to take "drastic action" to curtail soaring knife crime.

Ronnie Chopra, 49, of Mayfair, central London, said: “My daughter and I were at the Louis Vuitton concession on the second floor when the incident occurred.

“We were in the adjacent room waiting to see men’s wallets as my daughter wanted to buy me a birthday present.

“We didn’t see the actual incident, but heard another customer saying that someone had a knife and slashed a person’s arm trying to get a watch.

“When we were leaving the area, there was a pool of blood on the floor and my 13-year-old daughter, Anoushka, sadly walked into it.

“I'm horrified that this occurred inside a shop in London. She was visibly shaken.”

He added: “Mayor Khan seriously has to take drastic action to get rid of the menace that is knife crime. He literally has blood on his hands. London is falling.”

A spokesperson for the force, in full, said: "Police were called at 19.33hrs on Saturday, 28 January to reports of a fight inside the Harrods store in Brompton Road, SW1.
