"Shot twice": Man found dead in Marbella after suspected hit-and-run attack

A man has been found dead in a Brit holiday hotspot after being shot in the stomach in an alleged hit-and-run attack.

The 33-year-old was discovered in Marbella at around 2.15am.

Bystanders found the body lying in a street covered in blood and alerted authorities.

Although police have not confirmed the location, he is understood to have died on Calle Pintor Pacheco – close to Marbella’s seafront.

Emergency services raced to the scene near the Costa del Sol resort but were unable to save the man.

A hit-and-run car crash was initially suspected but paramedics later confirmed that the victim had died of bullet wounds.

Police said today he had two gunshots wounds to his “abdominal area.”

They added: “The National Police have opened an investigation to clarify the homicide in Marbella of a 33-year-old man, found early this morning with two gunshot wounds.”

Several shots had been heard in the area before police received the alert about a dead body at around 2am.

A vehicle with three people inside is believed to have been spotted speeding away from the scene.

The victim’s nationality has not yet been released.

Cops have launched an investigation alongside the Specialized and Violent Crime Unit.

Although early in the case, officers have so far dismissed links to organised crime.

It comes just days after a pregnant woman, grandmother and a child were killed at another Spanish holiday resort.

Two masked men on a motorbike opened fire at a family on the Costa de la Luz near the southern border with Portugal.

The youngster, whose age has not yet been revealed, his mum and his maternal grandmother all died at the scene.
