Indonesian authorities have seized 2.6 metric tons of liquid methamphetamine hidden aboard a Tanzanian-flagged vessel in one of the country’s largest drug busts, the National Narcotics Agency announced Tuesday, according to state news agency Antara.
Officers discovered the liquid methamphetamine stored in eight water barrels and inside the water tank of the MV Ocean Porter. Authorities also found a 40-foot container holding 157 boxes of illegal cigarettes on board. Ten crew members, all Myanmar nationals, were arrested.
The operation marks the second major drug intercept involving a Tanzanian-flagged vessel this month, following the confiscation of nearly 1.3 metric tons of ketamine in a separate operation.
