A man has been arrested and charged after drugs were recovered during a traffic stop in Edinburgh.

Around 8.20pm on Tuesday, August 4, road policing officers stopped a car travelling on Calder Road.

Officers searched the vehicle and uncovered both heroin and cannabis inside.

The street value of the drugs found in the vehicle is estimated to be £210,000.

A 39-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with drug offences.

He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, August 5. A report will also submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector Alan Sharp said: This was a significant recovery which demonstrates our continued commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.

“We remain committed to disrupting the sale and supply of illegal drugs in our communities of Edinburgh.
