A body has been found in the search for a man reported missing while travelling with his dog in a campervan.

George McCulloch was last seen on Monday as he left Oban, intending to travel home to Hawick.

The 58-year-old was travelling in his white VW Campervan with a small Jack Russell-type dog.

Police confirmed a body was found within a vehicle at Springkerse Retail Park in Stirling on Thursday.

Formal identification has still to take place, but Mr McCulloch’s family have been made aware.

A dog was also found and is alive and being looked after by officers.

The man’s death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
