All three have been remanded in custody and will appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 22.

Detective Chief Inspector Atherton, of Northumbria Police’s Major Investigation Team, said: "Our thoughts are firmly with Gino’s family and loved ones after the tragic events of Tuesday evening.

"We continue to provide them with all possible support and request that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."

He added that the investigation into the incident "remains very much ongoing", with further inquiries carried out in the Byker and Walker areas.

Det Ch Insp Atherton has urged anyone holding information about the stabbing to contact the police.

He said: "As part of our investigation, we are continuing to ask for information from anyone who saw two people on an electric motorbike which we believe entered Shields Road from the area of Grace Street in the minutes leading up to the incident, before then heading back along Shields Road and back into the area of Grace Street.

"We would also like to hear from those with CCTV, dashcam footage or mobile phone footage of these areas at around that time.
