Joe Burrow has been branded the 'closest thing' to Tom Brady as the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback put together a very strong first-half performance in tough conditions in Buffalo.

The Bengals took a two score lead into heading into the second half after Burrow two touchdowns - with scores to Jamarr Chase and Hayden Hurst. Burrow has been in sensational form as of late, winning their last nine consecutive games, but they come into the clash in up-state New York as the underdogs against Josh Allen and the Bills.

Burrow's game is made even more impressive when considering that he's performing at this level without his three best offensive lineman, with Jonah Williams, Alex Cappa and La'El Collins all injured.

Like Brady, Burrow isn't exactly a running quarterback, as he likes to remain in the pocket, diagnose what he sees and make the right pass time and time again.

This has seen a number of people compare the two. His superstar receiver, Chase, said: "(Burrow) is a true quarterback. Look, Josh Allen’s a great QB too, but Joe can do it all. Josh Allen’s game revolves around just being a dual-threat, running QB. That's not bad. But Joe’s more of a Peyton Manning, Tom Brady-type of QB."

NFL reporter Ryan Spagnoli has tweeted: "After watching Tom Brady for two decades, I can honestly say Joe Burrow is the closest I’ve seen to him from a mindset perspective. No matter how big the moment, it never phases Burrow. Cool, calm and collective. All ball, no BS."

Fellow NFL writer Mike Speer wrote: "Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes are going to be this generations Tom Brady and Manning. Josh Allen or Trevor Lawrence will play the Big Ben character by being able to sneak through a few times but the first two will dominate the AFC for the next decade."

The 26-year-old has recently entered the topic of conversation of best quarterbacks in the league, alongside Allen and Patrick Mahomes, and is closing in on being one game away from his second straight Super Bowl.

Burrow and the Bengals were defeated in last year's Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Rams, with Burrow making it in just in second year.
