The event left a trail of evidence from Crosby to Waterloo.

A schoolboy on his bicycle was stabbed near a local beauty spot and then hit by a car as he attempted to escape his attackers. The shocking incident began Crosby on Monday at around 6pm at stretched as far as neighbouring Waterloo.

The boy, aged 15, was reportedly stabbed in the leg, buttock, arm and chest after being attacked by two males on electric bikes near to Crosby Leisure Centre, on Mariner’s Drive. He is then believed to have fled and escaped his attackers before being struck by a car around two miles away on Cambridge Road, Waterloo.

When the ECHO attended Cambridge Road at around 7.30pm on Monday the road was blocked off by police tape, with evidence markers on the floor and a plastic sheet laid down. The cordon was lifted at around 9.30pm.

Detective Inspector Edward Barr, said: "The investigation is in its early stages. We believe the victim, who was on a bike, was attacked near to Crosby Leisure Centre on Mariners Road, by two other males on electric bikes. He managed to escape from them but collided with a car on Cambridge Road. The driver of the car stopped to help and phoned the emergency services.

"Crimes scene investigators are carrying out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house inquiries re underway. Officers will also be examining CCTV footage in a bid to establish the circumstances leading up to the investigation.

"The area around Crosby baths will have been busy around 6pm and I would urge anyone who saw anything to come forward, I would also appeal to drivers who may have dashcam footage to get in touch with us so we can find those responsible and put them before the courts."

He added: “There is no place for knives in our communities and we will always seek to take positive action when we have information about people are storing, carrying or using weapons. I would urge anyone with information to get in touch so we can act on community intelligence or call Crimestoppers anonymously.”
