Britain’s most miserable town might soon become part of London

The UK’s most miserable town dubbed ‘an island of despair’ could become a part of London leaving some people less than thrilled.

Slough Council is considering merging with west London as part of the Government’s plans to create larger authorities rather than lots of smaller ones.

This leaves the town of Slough considering what their best options are, including joining the ranks of London.

It comes after the Berkshire Town was named the most miserable place to live in the UK, raking 220th out of 220 by Rightmove.

Residents were asked to rate certain factors such as pride, sense of belonging, and income sufficiency.

But Sloughians are not too impressed with their town, named ‘the armpit of Berkshire’.

‘Avoid the centre if you value your sanity,’ @avidresolver advised in a Reddit thread.

Slough, which sits to the west of London, may merge with the Greater London Authority

Meanwhile, @lemnesiaa1995 lived there for just three months ‘before moving,’ while @GunstarGreen has ‘lived locally to Slough for 20 years.’

‘It’s a craphole…the shoppers were miserable as sin. The traffic isn’t good and neither are the drivers,’ they added

Now Slough’s politicians are considering merging with a west London council, such as Hillingdon, or even becoming part of the Greater London Authority.

Another option includes merging with Berkshire Council.

In response to the news, Londoners flooded Reddit with comments including: ‘We don’t want it,’ and, ‘please no’.

Account @trifectaofsquish wrote: ‘It’s bad enough to have it “touching” London never mind the prospect of it becoming an actual part of London.’

No decisions have yet been made, but the merger is set to be discussed in Slough Borough Council’s cabinet meeting on Monday.
