M11 closed in both directions after serious crash near Stansted Airport

Reports indicate significant delays on the M11 this morning due to a serious incident near Harlow.

A major crash was reported on the motorway near Stansted Airport at 4.46am this morning, which has lead to severe delays and queuing traffic in both directions.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area where possible, and diversion routes have been put in place for both directions.

A National Highway spokesperson said: ‘The M11 is closed in both directions between J8 (Stansted) and J7A (Harlow) following a serious multiple vehicle collision. All emergency services are working at the scene with Essex police leading the response.

‘Traffic Officers and contractors are on scene and assisting with strategic closures on the approach.’
