A fire broken out in a northbound tunnel near Waterloo Underground station in London.
London Fire Brigade and other emergency crews rushed to the scene after reports of a ‘ceramic track support’ overheating in the Kennington Tunnels on York Road, south east London at 7.37am this morning.
Firefighters managed to contain the fire.
As a precaution, sections of the northbound tunnel were closed, and people evacuated from the station.
The northern line is currently suspended between Charing Cross and Battersea Power Station.
There is a good service on the rest of the line, according to TfL.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: ‘Crews were called to a reports of a ceramic track support that had overheated at Kennington Underground Station on Kennington Park Road.
‘The Brigade’s 999 Control officers received their first call at 0737 and deployed fire crews from Lambeth and Dowgate fire stations to the incident.
‘Firefighters cooled the track support and the incident was over by 0924.’
