Girl, 6, and man discovered dead in house following ’major incident’

The bodies of a man and a six-year-old girl were discovered after a ‘major incident’ in West Lothian, Edinburgh.

Police and ambulance services rushed to Harburn Drive in West Calder around 4 pm yesterday after reports ‘of concern’ were raised for a person.

The 36-year-old man and young girl were found dead in a home on the street, with their deaths are being treated as unexplained.

Chief Inspector Elaine McArthur-Kerr said: ‘We understand this incident may be very upsetting and worrying for the people living in this community and would ask anyone with any concerns to speak to us.’

“A police presence will remain in the area while we carry out investigations and anyone with any concerns, or information, can approach these officers..”

The home where the bodies were discovered is said to be near Parkhead Primary School, with local residents sharing their shock.

Police have taped off a residential street after forcing entry to a home in West Lothian. Officers rushed to Harburn Drive in West Calder after the alarm was raised at around 4pm on Monday. Shocked locals say firefighters gained entry to a property close to Parkhead Primary School before police cordoned off an area of the street. Residents said police described the incident as "serious" and they were unable to access parts of the scheme after tape was placed around a residential property and garden. qhiquqiqhxiqurinv

Marlyn Williamson told Edinburgh Live: ‘I believe firefighters had to break down a door.

‘No one as I’m aware has been asked to leave or stay in their house.

‘When police were asked what was going on, they just said it was a serious incident.’

Pictures taken from the scene this morning showed a large forensic tent in the garden with officers standing guard nearby.
