The bodies of a man and a six-year-old girl were discovered after a ‘major incident’ in West Lothian, Edinburgh.
Police and ambulance services rushed to Harburn Drive in West Calder around 4 pm yesterday after reports ‘of concern’ were raised for a person.
The 36-year-old man and young girl were found dead in a home on the street, with their deaths are being treated as unexplained.
Chief Inspector Elaine McArthur-Kerr said: ‘We understand this incident may be very upsetting and worrying for the people living in this community and would ask anyone with any concerns to speak to us.’
“A police presence will remain in the area while we carry out investigations and anyone with any concerns, or information, can approach these officers..”
The home where the bodies were discovered is said to be near Parkhead Primary School, with local residents sharing their shock.

‘No one as I’m aware has been asked to leave or stay in their house.
‘When police were asked what was going on, they just said it was a serious incident.’
Pictures taken from the scene this morning showed a large forensic tent in the garden with officers standing guard nearby.
