It is the second Sea World ride to jam in the last week

More than a dozen thrill-seekers are trapped on a Sea World ride.

The spinning Vortex ride ground to a halt mid-air at the amusement park in Australia’s Gold Coast.

Rescue crews are working to get the 13 passengers off, with paramedics on standby.

The Vortex ride can hit speeds of 30km per hour and spins 360 degrees.

It got jammed about 30m off the ground at about 3pm local time (6am BST).

A Sea World spokesman said: "The Vortex at Sea World is currently experiencing a standard ride stoppage.

"All 13 guests on-board are safe and our team are communicating with them as we prepare to exit them from the ride."

It comes just days after another Sea World ride malfunctioned and left passengers stranded.

Riders on the Leviathan rollercoaster became stuck when a sensor activated last Thursday.

They were helped off the ride by staff at the park.

Meanwhile, police rushed to Skegness Pleasure Beach in Lincolnshire last Tuesday after terrified visitors were left in mid-air.

It is understood people on the ride - reported to be Super Trooper - began being removed around 5pm on Tuesday, an estimated two hours after the issue started.

Police later confirmed around 8pm: "We are pleased to report that everyone has been safely rescued and there are no serious injuries.

"Thank you for your patience whilst we worked through the incident."

The ride opened earlier this year.

It spins passengers in carriages around a central wheel through the air, with their feet left dangling below the seats.
