A block of flats has caught fire in south London with flames and smoke seen rising from apartments.
Footage shows thick plumes of smoke coming from two flats on the tenth and eleventh floors in St Marks Square, Bromley.
Eight fire engines were sent to the scene this morning.
London Fire Brigade said: ‘Twelve fire engines and around 80 firefighters are tackling a fire at a block of flats on St Marks Square in Bromley.
‘Two flats on the tenth and eleventh floors are alight.
‘One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders is being used at the scene to help fight the fire from above.
‘Control Officers took the first of 16 calls at 9.52am. Crews from Bromley, Beckenham, Woodside and surrounding fire stations are attending the scene.’
The London Ambulance Service has asked residents to keep windows and doors shut due to the large volume of smoke.
London Fire Brigade has confirmed the fire is now under control.
They said: ‘Traffic remains congested, so please continue to avoid the area if you can.
‘Crews will remain on scene for several hours damping down.
‘The cause of the fire is under investigation.’
