Two dead and woman critically injured in car crash

A man and woman have died after a crash involving two cars on a major road.

The A45 in Northamptonshire was closed in both directions after the collision around 11.45am yesterday.

A man died at the scene of the crash while the woman died later in hospital.

Another woman, who sustained life-threatening injuries, remains in hospital.

Police said that a blue Ford Fiesta and a grey Ford Puma crashed between the junction for Raunds and the A14 at Thrapston.

The road was closed for around eight hours before it could be reopened in the evening.

Appealing for witnesses, they said: ‘The A45 would have been busy at the time of the incident and investigators are now appealing for anyone who saw the collision, or who has dash-cam footage of it or of either vehicle beforehand to get in touch.’
