Netflix and Prime Video actor Chance Perdomo has died aged 27.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Gen V star was tragically killed in a horror motorcycle crash, his family confirmed in a statement on Saturday. "His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him."

It adds: "His warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest. We ask you to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother." No one else was thought to be involved in the heartbreaking incident.

Chance played Andre Anderson in Prime Video’s Gen V alongside Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips and London Thor. The show’s producer has also issued a statement following the news of his passing, pushing back the show’s second season.

"We can’t quite wrap our heads around this. For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person. Even writing about him in the past tense doesn’t make sense," they stated.

"We are so sorry for Chance’s family, and we are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague. Hug your loved ones tonight." A spokesperson for Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television added: "The entire Gen V family is devastated by the sudden passing of Chance Perdomo. Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television extend our heartfelt thoughts and support to Chance’s family and all who loved him at this difficult time."

Fans rushed to social media to pay tribute to the actor upon hearing the news of his death. One wrote: "Rest in peace Chance Perdomo life is to short sad that we will never get to see him live out his dream of playing Miles Morales."

A second posted: "Chance Perdomo... this one isn’t sitting right with me for some reason. From watching you become the role of Ambrose on chilling adventures, to taking in the role in the after series, and then the start of gen v as Andre I’m gonna miss seeing you on my screen." A third said: "May Chance Perdomo rest in peace. I’m devastated with this unbelievable news that is so heart broken indescribable sad news. Such a talented young man, he will be very missed! My prayers to his family and friends."

The actor, born in Los Angeles but raised in Southampton, England, also played Ambrose Spellman in Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s Netflix show The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, alongside Kiernan Shipka, Ross Lynch and Michelle Gomez.

Prior to Sabrina, Chance portrayed the lead character Jerome Rogers in the BBC Three drama Killed By My Debt. The series focused on how spiralling financial issues proved fatal for the young Rogers. Perdomo has also had guest roles in Midsomer Murders, Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators, and Hetty Feather.

Gen V explores the training of the first generation of superheroes to know about super serum Compound V, and that their powers were injected into them, rather than God-given. But beyond the typical college chaos, the kids at the heart of the series are faced with explosive situations.

Gen V has earned some impressive reviews since its launch, with critics praising its maintaining of the irreverent and darkly comedic tone of its predecessor. The series currently boasts a near-perfect 97 percent rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
