Meghan Markle and Prince Harry haven't held back when it comes to speaking out about life inside the Royal Family and one expert believes it has caused "irreparable damage".

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex issued a number of attacks against The Firm when they stepped down from their roles as senior working royals in 2020. Harry has accused his brother Prince William of "screaming and shouting" at him during one tense showdown, while Meghan shocked the world when she said she was "silenced" by the Royal Family.

Harry and Meghan's claims caused their relationship with The Firm to fracture, but there has been talk of them returning to the UK after King Charles was diagnosed with cancer. However, PR expert Ryan McCormick thinks it's unlikely the Sussexes will return to the royal fold.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, he said: "In Mario Puzo's book The Family he writes: 'We are a family, and the loyalty of the family must come before anything and everyone else. For if we honour that commitment, we will never be vanquished - but if we falter in that loyalty we will all be condemned'.

"I think that quote speaks volumes about the current state of affairs in the Royal Family. By betraying secrets told in confidence and also publicly excoriating their own flesh and blood, Meghan & Harry have caused irreparable damage to an institution which is over 1,200 years old."

If Meghan and Harry did return to the Royal Family, however, Ryan believes it could encourage other members to speak out. He explained: "Other members of the family may also feel emboldened to dish dirt to the press knowing there's no repercussions to fear."

Ryan's comments come after Harry did admit he has plans to return to the UK after paying a brief visit to his father last month. The Duke of Sussex met with King Charles and the pair enjoyed a 30-minute conversation.

During an interview on Good Morning America, Harry then said: "So my family and my life in California is as it is. I have got other trips planned. That would take me through the UK or back to the UK, so you know, I'll stop in and see my family as much as I can."

He also admitted he still loves his family. "Look I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him I'm grateful for that," Harry said.
