Emmerdale viewers were left confused over an apparent blunder on the latest episode of the ITV soap opera.
Thursday night's episode saw Chas Dingle (played by Lucy Pargeter) undergo a double mastectomy after having been diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. It's the same form of cancer that her late mother Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter), who died in an episode back in 2022, had herself.
Chas' operation featured in an hour-long episode this week and she had loved ones supporting her. As she underwent the surgery, her son Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) worried for her whilst waiting alongside Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).
Aaron shared his fears with Cain, reminding him that Faith had the same surgery but passed away years later. Cain reassured him whilst they both waited for an update inside the hospital, ahead of Chas coming out of the procedure.

A buzz was heard and he looked down at his phone, before telling Cain: "She's out!" The pair then headed to her room together.

Chas was seen lying in a bed in a private room, with Aaron going over to her. He tried to wake her up and was told by a member of staff that she was "still a bit sleepy," though Aaron and Cain were told that the surgery "went well".
As reported by the Daily Star, viewers took to social media to question who had messaged Aaron. One person asked on X, formerly known as Twitter, about the scene: "Did the surgeon text Aaron to say she's out of theatre??"
Someone replied: "That's what I wondered." A third viewer questioned: "Who sodding text Aaron?" Whilst another person tweeted during the episode on Thursday night: "Who the hell text Aaron to say Chas was out of surgery?"
Another viewer suggested it may have been Chas, writing: "Just had major surgery and she texts Aaron to say she's out now lol." Whilst someone teased on the platform: "I have news...just received a text .. Chas is out of surgery!!"
The pair heard she was out of surgery and then went to see Chas (played by Lucy Pargeter), who was seen lying in bed asleep following the procedure (ITV)Next week, Aaron, Cain and Caleb Dingle (played by William Ash) are set to open their cancer gene results. While Cain and Caleb find out they are safe, Aaron learns he has the faulty BRCA2 gene from his mother Chas.
Seeing how relieved Chas is when she hears about Caleb and Cain's results, Aaron tells her he tested negative. Keeping his secret the next day, Aaron plays along when Chas shows relief at his supposed test results once more.
