He might have been suited and booted when he attended the royal's annual Commonwealth service this week.
But when stepping out at a youth charity in West London today, Prince William ditched the formal suit for a much more casual outfit. Gone were the smart tie, structured jacket and suit trousers, replaced by relaxed chinos and an open-necked blue shirt. However, one of his garments appears to have certainly make an impression with some royal fans - his trendy navy button-down cardigan. It appears to have been the first time that the Prince of Wales has worn such an item while on royal duties.
And some fans couldn't get enough of seeing him in the quirky garment. One took to X and wrote: "William is wearing a cardigan, I repeat: William is wearing a cardigan!!!!!" while another declared: "Prince William in a cardigan is my mood!" followed by several heart-eye emojis. One fan said: "So good to see PrinceWilliam. Absolutely love his new cardigan look" while another pondered: "Are we in Prince William’s new fashion era?
Meanwhile, during his engagement today, William appeared to put a photo editing row behind him - just hours before he and estranged brother Prince Harry will both take part in a ceremony paying tribute to Princess Diana.
The Prince of Wales was all smiles as he visited the new WEST (which stands for Where Everyone Sticks Together') OnSide Youth Zone in Hammersmith and Fulham to see the new purpose-built facilities there for young people. It is his first solo engagement since his wife the Princess of Wales publicly took the blame for a manipulated family photograph released by Kensington Palace to mark Mother's Day and issued a personal apology for the 'confusion'.
Kate Middleton swears by £19.99 rosehip oil that helps 'reduce wrinkles & scars'WEST Youth Zone is a newly formed local independent charity with facilities including a sports hall, fitness suite, indoor climbing wall, teaching kitchen, performing arts studio and café which will serve hot nutritious meals costing no more than £1.
During his visit, William spent time with pupils from Ark White City Primary School and WEST's Young People's Development Group who were involved in shaping the design and facilities in the new centre. There he urged people to spend less time on their phones, as he told a youngster who confessed to scrolling: "The grown-ups are guilty of it too."
The prince said "we have got to be better at it", with people across the generations spending "ages on our phones". During the visit to WEST Youth Zone, he also turned his hand to a range of non-screen-based activities, shooting a basketball hoop on his fifth attempt and icing a biscuit. "My wife is the arty one," he said while biscuit-making.
His wife the Princess of Wales remained at home as she recovers from an abdominal operation. Sources said the engagement, which came days after a row about a digitally enhanced photograph of the Wales family, was always intended to be solo. The Prince returned to the topic of mobile phone use twice during the engagement, in which he found himself in the middle of a crowd of excited children and teenagers shaking hands and taking a selfie.
Onlookers described him as being in full dad mode as he spent more than an hour with youngsters, darting off to see a new room or asking his team if he had enough time to try his hand at another sport.
Later today, William will be at the Science Museum in London, where he is expected to give a speech to mark the 25th anniversary of the Diana Legacy Award and present awards to 20 recipients. His estranged brother Harry will then join a video call with the winners, according to reports. However, his involvement will only take place after William has left the ceremony. It comes as the royal brothers have continued to distance themselves from each other in recent months.
