Emmerdale fans were treated to a glimpse at what could happen in eight months time, as a character made their exit from the ITV soap.
Teenager Angelica King's soap future was seemingly confirmed, as she headed to court for her sentencing over the recent crash that killed Heath Hope. Angelica previously admitted to being the driver, despite only being 14 years of age.
She lost control of the car and accidentally killed Heath, while she initially blamed the crash on his sister Cathy. After her confession to police, she pled guilty to charges of causing death by dangerous driving, not having insurance and driving without a licence.
Angelica had been told that due to her age, with her turning 15 years old in August, she would likely be sent to a secure children's home and not prison. But in court on Wednesday, she learned that her guilty plea and her remorse, as well as statements from others, meant her sentence would be lesser than it could have been.
It's then that the judge confirmed Angelica's sentence, with her taken away immediately confirming an exit for the character. But she was only given eight months to serve in the secure home, meaning she could be back in the village by the end of the year.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesThis means if Angelica does come back, which was heavily teased by the fact her family told her she would be back with them soon, she will return in November this year. Viewers can probably expect Angelica to return in November as part of a storyline to bring her back on the show, unless she returns earlier than this.
This could be our first glimpse at autumn 2024, and what is happening later in the year. That said, the show has not confirmed whether Angelica will stay on the show after her sentencing, and we also do not know if current actress Rebecca Bakes will continue in the role, or if Angel will be recast.
Rebecca has played the role since 2009 when she was a baby, and she's remained on the show for the entire time. There was heartbreak for the Kings after saying goodbye to Angelica, as they learned she would be held in Bristol which is hours away from the village.
