Star Wars actor Jake Lloyd is currently receiving treatment in a mental health facility after having a psychotic break in March last year, confirms his mother.
The former child star, who shot to fame as Anakin Skywalker in 'Episode I — The Phantom Menace', had previously been diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2008 but his mother said he suffered a break last year leading to him needing to be admitted to receive treatment and support.
In a new interview, his mother Lisa has now revealed the star was "yelling and screaming" during the incident which led to needing police assistance. The actor, who is now 35, was admitted to hospital that day and later transferred to an inpatient program at a mental health facility.

The mother and son were returning from McDonalds when Jake began asking for the car to be turned off and getting agitated as "he turned the car off in the middle of the three lanes, and we were in the middle lane".

The car being stopped then caused traffic to pile up with other drivers then alerting the authorities via a 911 call as Lisa continued: "The police got there, and they asked Jake some questions. He was talking to them, but none of it made sense. It was all word salad."
Jake was then admitted into hospital before being accepted to an inpatient facility where he was expected to stay for 18 months, which he has currently completed ten so far. Lisa revealed her son has taken well to the program and is doing well, as she explained: "He is relating to people better and becoming a little bit more social, which is really nice. It’s kind of like having more of the old Jake back, because he has always been incredibly social until he became schizophrenic."

Initially the teenager was diagnosed with bipolar and struggled with medication finding it didn't work, until he was later diagnosed in 2008. Jake has previously had mental health episodes including in 2015 when he spent 10 months behind bars after leading police on a multi-county chase before he eventually crashed his car.
