Prince William is alleged to have been 'envious' of his younger brother

It has been claimed that Prince William was "envious" of his brother Prince Harry while they grew up, with the Duke of Sussex being incredibly popular.

Former royal bodyguard Ken Wharfe has recently spoken out about his time working with the brothers when they were just kids, with him working for the Royal Family from 1986 until 1993. Since he worked for the royals, Princess Diana has died and the family are now at loggerheads.

Prince William and Prince Harry were once incredibly close, "It was a very happy union. It was a very happy family," Mr Wharfe has said, but since the brothers got married and began to lead separate lives, they have become somewhat estranged. In recent years Harry has unleashed scathing claims about his brother and family, with him even alleging a physical fight between the pair in his memoir Spare.

Not only this but it is alleged that the brothers no longer speak after Harry felt that William wasn't warm and welcoming enough to his wife, Meghan Markle, which in turn made William furious. There is also an alleged rift between the Princess of Wales, Catherine, and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan.

Speaking about William and Harry's childhood, Mr Wharfe said that "Harry was always the joker, the entertainer", before touching on "sibling rivalry" between the brothers. He added: "I suppose it would be quite common for the sort of sibling rivalry that was, for the eldest William to be slightly nervous or envious of Harry because he was so popular."

He then reaffirmed that Harry was the "entertainer" and the "court jester" in his chat with The Sun, with William finding it "slightly different". But Mr Wharfe did add that the pair "were funny".

Elsewhere in his chat with the paper, Mr Wharfe added that the brothers had a "very good upbringing", with their mother, Princess Diana, ensuring she was "very careful" and "insisted they had a normal life".

Mirror Online has reached out to Kensington Palace for comment. They did not immediately respond.
