A woman who was sitting on park bench was robbed by two teenage boys who wielded a knife and kicked her in the face.
The 41-year-old was attacked at knifepoint in broad daylight in Sankey Valley Park, Warrington. She was approached by two boys close to the canal path. They threatened her as she sat on the bench and demanded she hand over all her belongings. Police say the woman was shocked by the incident and are keen to identify those responsible.
The LiverpoolEcho reports police are keen to hear from anyone who was acting suspiciously. Detective Sergeant Stephen Hopkins, from CID Reactive North, said: "This ordeal has left the victim considerably shaken and enquiries are currently underway to identify those responsible. As part of our investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believes that they may have seen anything suspicious."
Officers are also keen to glean all they can about the incident from CCTV or Ring doorbell footage in the area. DS Hopkins added: “I’d also ask residents in the area to check their CCTV or video doorbell footage to see if they have anything which may aid our investigation. The same goes for any motorists with any dashcam footage.”
Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101, or visit their website.
Tragedy as 13-month-old boy dies after the stolen car he was in crashedThe Warrington attack is the latest in the Merseyside area after a man was left fighting for his life in 2023 following a stabbing in Liverpool city centre. The Mirror previously reported two others knifed in an incident involving a large group of men at around 5.30am.
Police found one man, in his 20s, with stab wounds close to a branch of McDonald's and gave him medical assistance before he was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. Two other men, both in their 20s, took themselves to hospital with knife wounds, detectives have said.
One of the men had a stab wound to the back and the second had a stab wound to the head. Officers believe that the stabbing is linked to an earlier incident involving a large group of men on Victoria Street, in the city.
A large cordon was put in place in Liverpool city centre and a number of roads were cordoned off while officers investigated.
Superintendent Helen Bennett then said: "Urgent CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries are being carried out in the city centre and as such a large area has been cordoned off. It appears that a large disturbance took place on Victoria Street in which three people have been injured.
"We know that there were people in the city centre who may have witnessed the disturbance or possibly come to the assistance of the injured males and we would ask those people to come forward and speak to officers as soon as possible."
