Sources close to Meghan claim she would have been annihilated for Kate's Photoshop blunder

Meghan Markle would have been "annihilated" if she had made the same Photoshop blunder as Princess Kate, sources close to the Sussexes have claimed.

Insiders close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also told an American outlet the pair wouldn't have made the same mistake in the first place after Kate was forced into making a public apology. Kate said sorry after an image of her with her kids was shared and quickly called out for being heavily edited. She confessed the snap had been Photoshopped after eagle-eyed social media users spotted a number of issues.

The snap, which was shared on March 10 in celebration of Mother's Day, was the first official image of Kate since her surgery. It showed Kate and her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, happily smiling. Users online quickly claimed there are over a dozen issues with the initial upload.

While the likes of Whoopi Goldberg have leapt to Kate's defence and said everyone edits images, those close to Harry and Meghan claim the couple would have been "annihilated" if it was them. Speaking to Page Six, a source said: "This isn’t a mistake Meghan would ever make."

They added the former Suits star would "have been annihilated" if she did, before continuing: "The same rules do not apply to both couples. This isn’t a mistake that Meghan would ever make … she has a keen eye and freakish attention to detail."

Despite the claims, Meghan and Harry previously had to deal with Photoshop allegations of their own. The couple's 2019 Christmas card was firmly under the microscope at the time. Their festive photographer however denied the claims and showed the original image on her Instagram by way of proof.

At the time, the photographer said alongside the image: "Proud to have taken the Christmas photo for one of my best friends and her family. Here's the original that was sent out (cropped to fit IG)....and to The Mail, I see your campaign against my friend continues. Nice photoshop of my non-photoshopped image. Now may we all get back to the spirit of Christmas and not the spirit of maliciousness."
