Celebrity Big Brother viewers believed they'd spotted Nikita Kuzmin with a mobile phone in the house, after he headed to the Diary Room.
The Strictly Come Dancing pro headed to speak to Big Brother about events in the house, and his hope for some fun ahead of the next eviction on Tuesday night. But as the dancer walked in with his breakfast, he placed something on his lap that some fans thought was a phone.
Other viewers were quick to explain the truth though, commenting on Nikita having diabetes and requiring a blood sugar monitor to check his sugar levels. Nikita has previously spoken on TV about his condition and his type 1 diabetes diagnosis when he was a teenager.
Not many viewers of Celebrity Big Brother knew about this, with some fans blaming the lack of screen time for the Strictly star for them not knowing more about him - while co-star Sharon Osbourne did bring his health condition up on Late & Live on Tuesday. Confused viewers had taken to X unaware of his health condition, with one writing: "Is that a phone ? Do the celebrities have phones in #CBBUK."
Another said: "Was that a phone on nikitas lap in the diary room?". A third added: "No one else notice Nikita has a phone or something on his knee at the beginning of his interview with BB."
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesBut viewers who knew about Nikita's health condition were quick to explain he did not have a phone, with one writing: "He’s diabetic. It’s his machine to check his sugars." A second added: "nikita is diabetic he’s checking blood sugar it’s not a phone!!"
A third viewer wrote: "I feel like cbb has done Nikita dirty because maybe if he got more screen time, people would know he is diabetic and would get rid of the 'hE HAS A PHONE' tweets." Nikita previously revealed he found out he had type 1 diabetes when he was 13 years old.
He told his fans on Instagram in the past that he's "proud to be diabetic" and to wear a sensor, even though he has "good and bad days". In a hopeful message, Nikita said: "Shared a bit of my personal story this morning and hope to send a little message to maybe that one person who needs a bit of positivity in a newfound condition.
"Your life will be fine! Everything is ok. You can manage everything!" On the TV show Morning Live, he shared: "When I found out, I thought, 'My career's over,' and the next morning I woke up and I saw all those kids smiling and they were happy and they were diabetics just like me. I went out of my room and - this is one of my best memories in my life - there was this wall of fame."
He also talked about how it inspired him: "It was all of the famous, successful diabetics - Olympians, Paralympians, presidents, actors - everything. And actually, I think I made quite a few of them up because I thought there were quite a few more people than there actually were. I checked a couple of days ago and most of them were not even there."
