A woman's operation to help her conceive amidst fertility problems was suddenly halted as doctors informed her she was expecting.

Morgan Allen witnessed a real life miracle as she prepared to go under the knife after struggling to conceive with husband Kyle. The couple had been trying for a baby for a year when she opted to undergo the laparoscopy, which removes endometriosis tissue she had been diagnosed with years earlier.

Sufferers of endometriosis can sometimes struggle to conceive naturally, and Morgan, 28, was set to have the tissue removed in the hopes it would help them get pregnant. But as the surgery was set to get underway in July 2020, Morgan was given the news she had waited months for.

A doctor sprinted into the room as she prepared to head into theatre to stop the surgery, letting them know she had conceived naturally. To celebrate, nurses went to buy Morgan balloons from the hospital shop as the mum-to-be called husband Kyle, 33, to break the incredible news as she "tried to holid it together".

She later gave birth to daughter Lani in March 2021. Just 16 months later, the couple discovered they were expecting their second daughter, Remi, now one.

Morgan, a photographer, from Detroit, Michigan, US, said: "I was in complete shock - it was the only month I had not been tracking to see if we were pregnant. It was a high risk pregnancy, it brought on a lot of worry but we were very excited - it required a lot of doctors appointments.

"When I held Lani for the first time it was really incredible. I was speechless - it felt like everything was all worth it. I felt like we were finally a family. It was such a positive feeling. We were definitely nervous as we were new parents but we were very excited."

Kyle said: "I am over the moon, I love it. I love being a girl dad, we have waited for this moment for so long."

Morgan was diagnosed with Graves' disease - an autoimmune disorder that can cause hyperthyroidism or overactive thyroid - in 2018. She was later told she had endometriosis - a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.

Doctors told Morgan she would only be able to have children naturally if she kept her condition under control. In July 2020, Morgan went in for a laparoscopy - a procedure used to check a woman's pelvic organs.

Morgan said: "When the surgeon came in it was like an out-of-body experience. They said they would need to confirm with a blood work but the results again showed I was expecting."

When the test results confirmed Morgan was expecting, the nursing team went to the shop downstairs and got some balloons so that she could tell Kyle. They made it such a special way for me to tell him," Morgan said.

Due to her condition, the pregnancy was deemed high risk and Morgan visited the doctors every three days. She said: "It was so high risk. When you have Graves' disease it does cause growth restriction and our daughter ended up developing that - she was very small.

"She had a circumvallate placenta - an abnormality of the placenta - and high blood pressure." Morgan added: "Lani was born naturally at 37 weeks but I was induced due to my high blood pressure. We were kept in there for a week so doctors could watch over her.

"It felt like we were the family we always wanted to be. When I held her in my arms it was such an emotional moment. It felt really good to bring her home. Lani is extremely funny and outgoing, she has such a big heart and she is extremely smart."

Eight months later, Morgan went in again for a successful laparoscopy in November 2021 before falling pregnant with Remi. Morgan said: "The pregnancy was a healthy one - she was a giant baby and very healthy. Remi has such a big personality she is very funny and sweet just like her sister.

"I had always dreamed of being a mum but I wasn't sure I'd get the chance. Now it is here I feel very fulfilled, very lucky and blessed. I know a lot of people don't have the outcome we had."
