In recent years, members of cabin crew have shared plenty of flight attendant secrets around what passengers should and shouldn't do on flights. According to one airline worker, blowing your nose is firmly on the 'do not do' list.
Flight attendant Taryn often shares glimpses into her job on her TikTok account @tarynonajourney, and recently shared a divisive video in which she listed some of the main passenger habits that will always wind her up.
Filming herself as she walked through a seemingly empty cabin, she explained: "One, we don't want to hear you blow your nose while we are in a close, tight environment. That is disrespectful to other people and I feel like you could go to the bathroom and blow your nose".

In fact, heading to the plane toilet was a must for most annoying habits she flagged including needing to pass wind or - grimly - if you have an urge to pick your nose. (Although for one unfortunate gentleman, a recent flight saw him ending up stuck in the toilet for most of the journey).

Taryn's video left people divided. While the majority agreed that basic manners are important especially in a confined space, some questioned whether her restrictions were one step too far. "So what are we supposed to do if we have allergies?" asked one holidaymaker. Another simply argued: "I'm not going to the bathroom".
A third person added that they found "a couple of those rules [to be] iffy". One traveller added that smells and passenger habits were part and parcel of the flying experience. "We all have to put up with things we don't like while at work. You'll be alright," they wrote.
However, others agreed with Taryn and thanked her for speaking up. One person wrote: "Friend, please say it louder for the people in the back!!!" Others added that they felt the rules should go even further, such as including sneezing and coughing.
While planes are regularly cleaned, it's inevitable that you'll come into contact with some germs when you're travelling through airports, getting on a plane and then going through security and touching various surfaces on the other side. However according to a group of travel experts, there are some surfaces inside the plane cabin that you may want to swerve.
The team at Ski Vertigo looked into some of the top germ hotspots on planes. One of the dirtiest surfaces is unfortunately one you're likely going to touch during your flight - the tray tables. The team warned: "These surfaces see a variety of uses during flights, from food consumption to being a resting spot for personal items and electronic devices.
"Given their multifunctional use and the fact that cleaning crews often have limited time between flights, tray tables may not receive a thorough cleaning, leading to a significant build-up of bacteria and viruses. This makes them a prime location for the transmission of illnesses."
