Dancing On Ice 2024 winner announced after tense ITV show final

Dancing On Ice has crowned its 2024 champion after a tense final.

Taking to the ice on Sunday night were finalists Ryan Thomas, Adele Roberts and Miles Nazaire with Ryan, 39, later crowned the winner alongside their professional skating partner Amani Fancy. Greg Rutherford had been due to perform in the final but he was sadly forced to pull out due to a "significant injury" just hours before the show on Sunday.

For the final, judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse offered their feedback as the celebrities performed for the last time after a gripping 16th series. The show, presented by Stephen Mulhern and Holly Willoughby, saw Ryan, 39, Adele, 45, and Miles, 28, take to the ice for one last time.

After the first routines, it was revealed that Ryan and Miles had got through to the next round with Adele finishing in third place. In an extra special final, this year marks the 40th anniversary of Torvill and Dean's gold medal win at the Winter Olympics in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Later on the show, final two contestants Ryan and Miles performed a routine inspired by the skating duo's performance to Ravel's Bolero in Sarajevo at the 1984 Games.

Last year, Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson and his skating partner Olivia Smart were crowned the champions with Ryan now taking over the reigns. After Ryan was announced as the winner, the former Coronation Street star admitted: "I'm speechless!", adding: "I just can't, it's Amani, I'm happy for her because she's put so much hard work in with me. Listen, Greg, if you're watching this at home... this trophy is for you, mate!" before thanking the public at home for voting for him.

So deserved #DancingOnIce", another wrote: "Well done Ryan Thomas!!! #DancingOnIce", a different account put: "Well done Ryan and Amani #DancingOnIce" while another added: "Ryan and Amani incredible and class tribute to Greg at the end there #DancingOnIce."

In sad news, just hours before the final, it was announced that Greg, 37, had pulled out of the show due to a "significant injury". The sports star was due to perform with professional skating partner Vanessa James in a bid to be crowned the 2024 champion, competing against Ryan, Adele and Miles.

However, just hours before the final on Sunday, Greg's professional skating partner Vanessa, 36, posted a photo on Instagram, announcing they were on the way to the hospital after Greg was injured during rehearsals. Vanessa penned: "Unfortunately Greg has sustained a significant injury this morning at rehearsals and won’t be able to perform tonight. We are on our way to the hospital for Greg to get examined further and receive the treatment he needs."

Greg's exit was also addressed on the show with presenters Holly and Stephen sending their well-wishes. Holly, 43, said: "You may have noticed that Greg and Vanessa weren't part of our opening. Unfortunately, Greg injured himself in rehearsals earlier today. We're all completely gutted. Sadly, he cannot continue in the competition."

Dancing On Ice the final airs this Sunday at 6:25pm on ITV and ITV X. *Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Threads.
