There's a brand new Lego Fortnite update today that rolled alongside the launch of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, and introduces Lego Kits to the game for players to build in their worlds.

Update: You won't be able to play for a while yet as Fortnite downtime has been extended.

Original story: While the news may be all about the new Myths and Mortals theme in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, Epic Games hasn't forgotten about the other modes in its ever-growing metaverse. As well as the Battle Royale patch, there's been a Lego Fortnite update today as well, although keep your expectations in check as it focuses more on displaying items in-game than any groundbreaking changes to gameplay mechanics.

The Lego Fortnite update sees Lego Kits arriving in the Fortnite Item Shop tomorrow. What are Lego Kits? Well just like real-life Lego, the kits include Builds, Building Parts, or Decor items so that you can put together creations for your Village. These include iconic Fortnite locations like Durrr Burger, and areas based on real Lego kits like the Lion Knights' Castle. What's more you can use the kits in the Lego Fortnite update in your friends' worlds as well as your own, and there are more kits promised for future updates.

Plus for all of you middle-aged men who inexplicably also like Lego Fortnite out there, the fishing introduced last season has been updated, so you can now display your best catches to show off to all of your pals. Nothing beats a Lego fish on the Lego mantlepiece.
