Celebrity Big Brother bosses and lawyers are screening Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh’s best bitching sessions, with only snippets of their A-List gossip making it to air.
The pair swapped stories about James Corden, who Sharon described as a sycophantic name-dropper, Ellen Degeneres, who she said was vomit-inducing, and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who was described as a “c-word”. But ITV ’s legal and compliance teams are having to sift through hours of footage to whittle down the pair’s catty comments into content that is suitable for air.
A minute-long clip of their session slagging off celebrities with Gary Goldsmith aired on the Celebrity Big Brother spinoff Late and Live on ITV2 on Wednesday night, but only once editors had given it the all clear and had a chance to chop out anything that could have proved a legal minefield.
While discussing name-droppers, Sharon, 71, told the Princess of Wales ' uncle Gary: “I’ll tell you who does that, James Corden. He does that all the time. “I go to him, ‘I really like your shoes,’ and he goes, ‘Yeah, Stella McCartney.’ I’m like, I didn’t ask you who made them, I just said I like your shoes. He constantly, constantly throws out names.”
She went on about the Gavin and Stacey star: “When he got to America he played the L.A. game really well.” Louis, 71, concurred: “Kissing all the right people. Anna Wintour, mwah, mwah.” This prompted Sharon to reply: “Oh she loves him, loves him. But who loves Anna Wintour? I think she’s a c-word.” “Yeah, she is,” Louis agreed. “And Ellen DeGeneres?” To which Sharon pretended to vomit.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesJames befriended Anna, who helped him break the US, after she saw him starring in the play One Man, Two Guvnors and wrote to him praising his performance. A source confirmed all episodes go through intense scrutiny with compliance teams before they make it to air.
During the live streams on ITVX, anything risky is replaced with the sound of bird song - one viewer claimed the sounds of birds played for 22 minutes during one live stream. It comes after Gary, 58, shared his thoughts on the royal family, claiming his niece’s husband the Prince of Wales always had an “olive branch” open to his brother Prince Harry, and claimed Harry's wife Meghan Markle should be stripped of their titles. He also commented on how the Princess of Wales was receiving the “best care in the world” as she recovers from abdominal surgery.
