Harry Kane hilariously exposed Jamie Carragher for lying during CBS Sports' coverage of the Champions League on Tuesday, leaving the Liverpool legend reeling.

Carragher had told CBS' panel, which included Thierry Henry, Micah Richards and host Kate Abdo, that he'd called the Bayern Munich talisman ahead of their last-16 second leg at home to Lazio. Bayern needed to overturn a lifeless 1-0 defeat in Rome and Kane helped them do just that with two goals, as the German giants ran out 3-0 winners.

Post-match, the former Tottenham striker gave an interview to CBS, and Abdo immediately quizzed him on Carragher's claim. "Before we do anything, I think we should clear something up because Jamie said earlier in the pre-game that he called you and spoke to you this week - is that true or false?" she asked.

In somewhat apologetic fashion, Kane replied: "Erm, that is false." The England captain's response sparked hysterical laughter from Henry and Richards while Carragher begged: "H, don't do this to me!

"I'm telling everyone in America that we're friends, that we've got a great relationship. I can't believe you have just done that to me!"

Kane then comforted the ex-Liverpool defender by saying: "We are friends but I'm not going to lie on national TV!" Asked if he actually had Carragher's number, the 30-year-old explained: "We exchange messages on Twitter, you know. Twitter friends."

Carragher then quipped: "See Kate, we're Twitter friends!" Kane also posted afterwards on X: "Sorry @Carra23 the truth will always come out," alongside three laughing emojis.

It was certainly a night for the striker to have a laugh, having scored his 35th and 36th goals of the season to down Lazio. Thomas Muller also got on the scoresheet, easing the pressure on Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel, who's already agreed to leave the club at the end of this season.

"It was an important night tonight," Kane added. "It can really change the momentum of the season.”

The reigning Bundesliga champions are heading towards losing the German crown for the first time since 2012, as Xabi Alonso's unbeaten Bayer Laverkusen sit 10 points clear at the top of the table with 10 games to go. Bayern's priority is likely to be the Champions League, with the draw for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final due to take place next Friday at 11am.
