Rihanna left critics less than impressed with her highly anticipated performance at an Indian billionaire’s wedding.
After the news broke that the 36-year-old global megastar was being paid $6.3 million (£4.9 million) for her performance on Friday night, fans were expecting her to pull out all the stops. Anant Ambani - the son of Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in Asia - and his bride had booked Rihanna to perform at their extravagant three-day pre-wedding celebrations and forked out a hefty fee for her appearance.
Sadly for the happy couple, Rihanna’s concert fell short of expectations, with fans slamming her “lacklustre” and “boring” show. It comes after the star took a one-year performance hiatus following her divisive 2023 Super Bowl Halftime show.

In footage of Friday night’s party, Rihanna - who apparently demanded a special chicken curry was made for her - was dressed head to toe in a stunning sheer green gown while she performed hits including All Of The Lights, B**** Better Have My Money, and Work - but according to some on social media, she should have put in more effort.
'I'm spending £20k on a new bathroom - but won't help my brother out with cash'One X user wrote: “She got that coin and said f–k y’all ima do what I can”, while another said: “I’ve always said she’s an incredibly lazy performer…..she never took the time to improve her performances.” A third agreed: “Rihanna always been dry and lackluster idk why ppl are surprised.”
The Umbrella songstress, who was declared a billionaire and the “richest female musician” by Forbes back in 2021, has taken a step back from music in recent years. Although she now rarely gives live performances, she remains busy. The star is the founder of the successful makeup business Fenty as well as the lingerie line Savage X Fenty. She is also raising her two young sons with fellow musician A$AP Rocky.
Rihanna’s last album - Anti - was released back in 2016 and fans have been eagerly anticipating a new music drop ever since. The iconic singer hinted new tracks were on the way in a Vogue interview back in February 2023, saying “it would be ridiculous” if her ninth album did not come out that year. To fans’ dismay, there still remains no sign of fresh Rihanna records.
