The release date for Warzone Mobile has finally been confirmed, with the mobile version of Call of Duty's battle royale title set to launch worldwide in March.

Call of Duty players have been waiting for what feels like an age for Activision to finally confirm exactly when Warzone Mobile will launch. But, today, the publisher has finally confirmed via a blog post that the Warzone Mobile release date is Thursday, March 21. As well as showing off a brand new reveal trailer, Activision has also confirmed that Warzone Mobile will feature two iconic Warzone maps at launch, with Rebirth Island and the much-loved Verdansk map set to be available for players to jump into, with the maps supporting 48 and 120 players respectively on iOS and Android devices.

Players will be able to share their progress across Warzone Mobile, MW3 and Warzone, including battle pass, player levels, store bundles and weapon progression, no matter if you're on Xbox, PlayStation or PC. And the cross-platform shenanigans don't stop there, because Warzone Mobile will also support a shared friends list and shared chat channels across mobile platforms, meaning you'll be able to use social features such as proximity chat and party chat across iOS and Android.

The battle royale title will also feature controller support on mobile devices, but even if you don't have a controller to hand, the title will feature virtual joysticks and a customisable control interface on the mobile device's display. Although it goes without saying that for best results, it's probably best to plug in a controller.

Players who pre-register for Warzone Mobile will unlock rewards such as the Ghost “Condemned” Operator Skin, the M4 “Archfiend” and X12 “Prince of Hell” Weapon Blueprints, the “Foe's Flame” Vinyl and the “Dark Familiar” Emblem, which can all be redeemed at launch.

Warzone Mobile has been a long time coming, with Activision previously confirming an autumn 2023 release date during the litigations surrounding the Microsoft Activision deal, only for the mobile title to be delayed until Spring 2024 back in July last year. The good news is that all the talk about delays is finally over, because we have a release date, and players don't even have that long to wait.

But there's no getting away from the fact that a mobile version of Warzone is long overdue, with other titles such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, and PUBG Battlegrounds already having successful mobile versions of their console and PC counterparts. However, Warzone is currently in a much healthier position than it has been in for quite a while, particularly after Warzone Season 2 re-introduced Fortune's Keep, so maybe Activision was just biding its time and waiting for the right moment to launch Warzone Mobile. And, with the publisher claiming over 50 million players have pre-registered for the game, it certainly feels like a good time. I mean, we've waited long enough.

Of course, only time will tell how successful Warzone Mobile will ultimately be. But there's no getting away from the fact that the ability to return to Verdansk will be a huge pull on the nostalgic heartstrings for long-time Warzone players, even if Verdansk is rumoured to be returning to the main Warzone title in 2024 anyway.
