Ant McPartlin was left stunned after a guest shaded Simon Cowell live on Saturday Night Takeaway tonight.
Hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly brought Simon back on the show tonight for a very special final series of their ITV show. With him having been one of the first people they ever pranked on their show, the duo returned to Los Angeles to prank their boss, leaving Simon lost for words as they planned a two part surprise prank for Simon.
Stephen Merchant was there to segue into the next segment when he made a joke about himself doing a Simon impression, but said he couldn't because he was making his face move and insinuated Simon could not.
Fans also fumed at Simon for cycling without a helmet, despite his previous injury, which left him badly injured.
One wrote: "Simon cycling without a helmet as well. Not setting a good example. #SaturdayNightTakeaway," whilst a second added: "No helmet? Hasn't he already had a bike accident a couple of years ago? #SaturdayNightTakeaway." A third shared: "Where's your helmet Simon !!! #SaturdayNightTakeAway," with a fourth adding: "Currently watching #SaturdayNightTakeaway and I'm surprised to see Simon Cowell, a person who injured himself badly on an e-bike, not wearing a helmet. This is him genuinely out for a normal bike ride, pre-shenanigans. Look after yourselves everyone! Wear a helmet lol."
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesA previous released teaser clip shows the calculating pair pulling a big prank on the music mogul. We see Simon on his bike riding through Malibu but before long he's not alone. A police officer gives chase and Ant and Dec gasp as he is pulled over.
Speaking of why Simon was pranked, Dec said: "We are ending the Undercovers where we started… with Simon Cowell! Our first ever Undercover was on Simon in LA when he was a judge on American Idol. So we've gone back and got Simon Cowell again. We went out to LA and gave him the day from hell whilst he was judging on America's Got Talent.
Of pranking their boss Simon once again, Ant added: "It was even sweeter getting him the second time round because we also got him during his downtime as he’s riding his bike around Malibu - it’s very, very funny."
The show is back for a final series this year after the pair confirmed they were 'resting' the show after the new series.
Ant shared: "We've got some news for you. Next year, in 2024, it will be our 20th series of Saturday Night Takeaway. And we've got some very special look-backs planned as well as some very exciting new items," with Dec adding: "And we've also decided that our 20th series will be our last one for a little while. The show takes up so much of a year we just feel like we need a little bit of a breather and the show is going to take a little bit of a rest. But before that we've got the 20th series to plan."
