TNT Sports presenter Laura Woods was left baffled after Ally McCoist mistakenly described Wilfried Zaha as "world-class".
McCoist was weighing in on the debate about world-class footballers after his fellow TNT Sports pundit Rio Ferdinand controversially claimed Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is not in that bracket.
Ferdinand has since named Ederson, Kyle Walker, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe and Salah as the 12 footballers he considers to be world-class.
And when asked to weigh in on the debate by Woods, who quizzed McCoist on how many current Premier League players he thinks are world-class, the Rangers legend made a blunder. "You look at guys like Zaha, world-class," he said.
A baffled Woods then responded: "Zaha?!" To which McCoist quickly corrected himself, adding: "I meant [Mohamed] Salah! Have I just made somebody up?"
Jamie O'Hara speaks for Football Manager fans after Laura Woods' brutal put downWoods was left struggling to contain her laughter as she replied: "No, Wilfried Zaha. I was like 'That's an interesting one to go straight to!' Of all the people... He doesn't even play in the Premier League."
McCoist then jokingly played along with the blunder, adding: "It might be controversial but I'm going to start with Wilfried Zaha! He's been a personal favourite of mine for a long time and I'm just going to continue in the controversial theme and I'm going with him.
"When did Wilfried Zaha become Mo Salah? Anyway, do you want to do that question again? Actually, we should just leave it in and cause an absolute riot, shouldn't we? The man's lost his marbles!
"Get him off air immediately, get him in a home for old folk and we can send him flowers and go and visit him every Sunday afternoon - we can take him out for a walk on a Sunday!"
As Woods noted, Zaha no longer plies his trade in the Premier League having left Crystal Palace over the summer after his contract expired to join Galatasaray. Zaha has made 33 appearances across all competitions for his new club so far, scoring ten goals and providing five assists.
