EastEnders' Adam Woodyatt warns over 'scam' as shares warning with fans

Adam Woodyatt has warned fans to "please be careful" on social media, saying that he's been made aware of a weight loss "scam" as well as fake profiles pretending to be him.

The actor, 54 - who is best known for playing Ian Beale on EastEnders - took to Instagram this morning to issue a message to his 108,000 followers on the platform.

He shared an advert for an apparent weight loss brand which appeared to have used photos of Adam to promote itself. He said that a friend had spotted it on social media.

The advert - which he seemed to have written "scam" over - featured side-by-side photos of Adam, showcasing the physical transformation he's undergone in recent years.

It seemed to suggest that the brand had helped Adam. The actor has previously stated that giving up alcohol led to his weight loss and said cycling has kept him "fit".

He shared the advert with his followers earlier, writing in his caption: "A friend saw this advert on Facebook [...] and sent it to me. It is 100% nothing to do with me."

And Adam warned of people posing as him on social media, saying: "I'm also aware of several accounts pretending to be a personal or private account for me on Instagram."

The I'm A Celebrity alum said that some of those accounts have been reported or blocked, though he suggested that more seem to keep popping up on social media.

"I'm on Twitter and Facebook but rarely use them. This is the one account that I use regularly although I don't reply often to comments [...] and I never check messages," he said.

Adam - who suggested to his fans that he should engage with them in the comments more - concluded with a warning, telling them: "Please be careful on social media".
