Season of the Construct is well underway, and Activision is set to give us an update on the long-awaited Diablo 4 Gauntlet and leaderboards that are still on track for a Season 3 release despite a previous delay.
The third season of Diablo 4 kicked off exactly one month ago, and we were slated to get some new content in the form of leaderboards and a new weekly rotating fixed dungeon called the Gauntlet just a couple of weeks later in mid-February. While we still got to see some noteworthy highlights in Diablo 4 patch 1.3.2 – which gave Uber Unique items a complete overhaul – the new features were notably absent.
Diablo general manager, Rod Fergusson, gave players a heads-up at the start of February, taking to Twitter to reassure players that both the Gauntlet and leaderboards are still coming in Season 3 but that the studio would be taking "a bit more time to polish a few things up," meaning last week's February 13 release was put on hold. But we'll be getting an update on all things leaderboards, Gauntlet and Trials related next week in the Diablo 4 Campfire Chat.
These streams give the developers over at Activision Blizzard the time to talk through community feedback, upcoming changes, new content and more, in a bid to be more transparent with players after a rocky start to Season 1. The studio worked on righting the ship with the advent of Season 2 although login errors to kick things off didn't help matters. This delay hasn't been well-received, and the responses to Fergusson's tweet paint a picture of a frustrated player base that is regretting buying their Battle Pass and is turning to games like Last Epoch instead.
But hey, maybe this upcoming Diablo 4 Campfire Chat will turn things around and get players hyped again. On the agenda (shared in a blog post), we have our first look at the Gauntlet dungeon and Trials, and more on leaderboards, balance updates, and the return of Vampiric Powers; the latter aren't explicitly mentioned, but the post says "bloodthirsty powers set to make their return" so I think we can safely assume that's what it's talking about.
Why Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's six week delay is a good thingHere's everything you need to know about the upcoming Diablo 4 Campfire Chat and how to tune in.
The Diablo 4 Campfire Chat date is next Thursday, February 29, with the livestream kicking off at 7pm GMT / 2pm EST / 11am PST. As with most developer live streams, you can tune in on either Twitch or YouTube. Obviously, it's too early for a placeholder landing page to be live, so here are the links in the meantime.
Once the Diablo 4 Campfire Chat livestream video is up, we'll embed it here as well. The stream will feature director of community Adam Fletcher, who regularly pops up on them, as well as associate game director Joseph Piepiora, and lead live class designer Adam Jackson. A 'special event' is also scheduled during the Diablo 4 Campfire Chat to showcase the Gauntlet with development team members and Diablo creators MacroBioBoi and AnnacakeLive playing the dungeon to give us a proper look.
