Love Island All Stars contestants Chris Taylor and Joanna Chimonides have sensationally claimed show bosses ‘betrayed’ the female contestants.

Over the past five weeks, reality show fans watched as past Love Island contestants returned to the villa for a second chance at love in the All Stars spin-off of the show. The grand finale aired on Monday night with 29-year-old Molly Smith and 24-year-old Tom Clare winning the cash prize.

Season five stars Chris, 33, and Jo, 27 - who were on the original series in 2019 - were both All Stars contestants with Chris lasting 26 days before getting dumped from the villa, while Jo parachuted in on day 16 and was ditched nine days later. Chris, Jo and all the other failed All Star contestants returned to the villa in South Africa the day before the finale, however, for a shock twist.

The past contestants lined up and voted for the remaining couple that they found least convincing - with said couple then being dumped hours before the final. All of the returning All Stars contestants were also then present to watch the final live from the studio in the villa.

But Chris and Jo have claimed that show bosses caused havoc for the final twist as they put the female contestants up in a grotty hotel in South Africa after they’d been flown back to the filming location. Speaking to Heat magazine’s Under The Duvet podcast, Chris claimed bosses also banned the boys and girls from mixing together.

He said: "They don't let us cross paths in the slightest." Jo corroborated the claim, saying: "We were kept apart the whole time." The pair then went on to describe the drama that unfolded surrounding the hotels they were put up in for the last two episodes of the season.

Chris claimed: "[The boys] were in a lovely hotel, [the girls} were in a less lovely hotel, with seagulls pooing in their pool." Jo confirmed this, saying: "Us girls had landed, the boys hadn't yet landed in South Africa and Chris sent me the hotel they were staying in and I was like, 'Why are we not staying there?'

“We were staying in like a hotel that wasn't as great and so we called up the producers and were like, 'The boys haven't landed yet, let's [switch] hotels'." The Mirror has contacted Love Island representatives for comment.

While All Stars has ended, Love Island fans won’t have too long to wait until the next season of the regular show begins - as it is tipped to start airing in early summer. ITV are currently recruiting volunteers aged 18 and over to take part in the next season - which will be the eleventh. The last season to film began airing in June last year - which suggests the 2024 season will start in the same month, giving fans roughly four months to wait before more action from the villa appears on screen.
