Brits could be blasted with more snow in a matter of days as temperatures are set to plummet, weather charts reveal.
After an unseasonably warm spell for February last week, the mercury is back on the way down towards the end of the month. Meteorologists now predict a spell of snow for parts of the UK on Friday.
It comes at the Met Office issued a weather warning for rain in the South West on Wednesday, claiming some of this may fall as snow in parts of the country. Experts said hilly areas of the North face a coating of the white stuff in the coming days.
A spokesperson said: “Heavy rain will spread across Wales and southwest England from early on Wednesday morning. Rainfall amounts will widely reach 15-25 mm, with as much as 50-70 mm over higher ground.
“With saturated ground in places, this is likely to lead to some disruption. Rain will clear to the east by the afternoon. Check if your property could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit."

The snow blast will strike parts of Britain in a matter of days, weather charts show (WXCHARTS.COM)They added: "The band of heavy squally rain will continue to move southeastwards, followed by sunny spells and blustery showers. Feeling colder for many, with showers falling as snow over northern hills." The North West in particular faces up to 9cm of snow per hour on Friday in areas such as the West Scotland coast and the Lake District.
A Met Office spokesperson said the UK would see "sunny spells and blustery showers" on Friday and Saturday, which would be "falling as snow over northern hills". This would likely fall as rain across the South as we head into the weekend, they said, with temperatures returning to more average figures for this time of year.
A spell of warmer Atlantic air caused temperatures to rise as high as the late teens last week, with parts of the country seeing thermometers hit 19C. Average temperatures for February in the UK are usually around 1-7C.
