A selfish thief pinched a bride-to-be's dream wedding dress from her doorstep mere minutes after it was delivered.

Becky Herbert had ordered the gown from Vinted ahead of her wedding to fiancé Jules in August. The 34-year-old had spotted the second-hand garment in ivory with a lace train on the thrifting app and instantly fell in love.

"I always knew as soon as we started planning the wedding that I wanted a pre-loved dress," she said. "It was exactly what I'd been looking for."

She paid £250 for the dress which was delivered by Evri, who sent Becky an email with a photo of the parcel on her doorstep at her home in Aldershot, Hampshire. As she was not home at the time, Becky hurriedly asked a neighbour if they could take it in for her so it wasn't sitting in full view.

But within just 30 minutes of the delivery on the afternoon of February 3, Becky's dream dress had been pinched, BBC reports. She added: "I had requested that the parcel was not delivered to the door and set an alternative safe space which had been acknowledged by the courier - but they still just dumped it on the doorstep."

Furious, Becky reported the theft to police who are investigating the theft which she described as "reckless", despite knowing that neither the delivery person nor the thief would have known the parcel's significance. Since the dress was stolen, she said she'd had "sleepless nights" wondering if the thief would do the honourable thing after realising what was inside.

Sadly, as the dress is second-hand and discontinued, Becky fears it's unlikely she'll get to wear it when she eventually walks down the aisle later this year. Evri has since refunded Becky after accepting there was "no clear evidence that the parcel was delivered securely".

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary meanwhile has urged anyone with information on the theft to get in touch. Becky, who has been with partner Jules for five years before they got engaged last summer, said she was devastated as the "waste" of "such a beautiful dress", adding "I never got to touch it or put it on".
