Prince William will not entertain Prince Harry's possible return to the royal fold because he "has enough on his plate", an insider claims.

The Duke of Sussex is reportedly open to returning to duties temporarily to help out while King Charles undergoes cancer treatment. But heir to the throne the Prince of Wales is alleged to have stamped out any such move. Harry's reported proposal is similar to what he put forward before exiting the Firm four years ago, it is claimed.

He returned to the UK for just 26 hours earlier this month after learning his dad was unwell. Making a flying visit from his California home to see the King for the first time in 16 months, the Duke only spent 30 minutes alone with him at Clarence House in London. He flew home the next day.

Reports have since emerged that aides blocked Harry from visiting Charles at Sandringham, where he reportedly had planned to remain for a few days and hoped for a heart-to-heart with his dad. It comes as King Charles has been seen for the first time since the row erupted, waving and smiling to crowds as he headed to St Mary Magdalene Church for a Sunday morning service.

A royal source told the Daily Express: "There's no way that the Prince of Wales will wear it. Harry may well want to step back into a royal role but as far as his brother is concerned nothing has changed. Prince William has enough on his plate at the moment. His father is being treated for cancer and his wife is recovering from abdominal surgery. He simply doesn't have the bandwidth for this."

A source close to Harry, 39, confirmed: “Harry is ready and willing to help and genuinely believes it would work well for both parties. In his view, it wouldn’t be dissimilar from what was proposed back in 2020, with a hybrid model of working. With the King’s illness, there is perhaps more of a reason for those options to be considered.”

According to sources close to William, the heir to the throne "is absolutely and categorically clear that he would not allow Harry to return". Referring to Megxit, they added: "He thought it was a bad idea at the time and he’s even more clear now." William thinks that "nothing has changed" with Harry, as it has been claimed.

The Prince of Wales believes that his sister-in-law Meghan Markle and his brother "cannot be trusted", it has been claimed by a source. Sources close to William have also said that in the wake of Charles' cancer diagnosis, he would be the one to take on more duties himself if needed while it is understood he believes Harry and his wife Meghan “cannot be trusted”.
